My Grocery Essentials!

Take a look at what I keep in my kitchen at all times!

Trader Joe's is my all time favorite grocery store and here's why: it's cheap! Being a college student and having to shop on a budget, shopping at a store that is cheap but amazing quality is very important to me. I also think that Trader Joe's has amazing produce and flowers! Also, if you've ever been to Trader Joe's, you'll notice that their signs are super cute AND the employees are always very polite and willing to help! I also do some of my shopping at Kroger for their discounted prices with a Kroger card as well as some money off of gas!

Unsalted, Creamy Peanut Butter

Trader Joe's

$1.99

This peanut butter is one of my favorites and I always have it in my cabinet! I typically go through a jar of peanut butter every 1-2 weeks so it is definitely a staple in my diet. Peanut butter is is a great way to get unsaturated fats and protein into your diet!

Nutritional Yeast

Trader Joe's

$2.99

Nutritional yeast is a vegan additive that contains protein and B vitamins such as vitamin B12. Since vitamin B12 comes from animal products, it can be hard to get vitamin B12 in your diet if you're vegan/vegetarian unless you're taking a supplement. However, nutritional yeast does contain vitamin B12! I like to put this in pasta dishes, vegan chili, etc.

Roasted Garlic Hummus

Trader Joe's

$1.99

I LOVE HUMMUS and eat it with almost everything. It is a great low-calorie alternative to regular condiments and dips! My favorite way to eat hummus is to put it on a bagel with eggs (aka an egg sandwich), dip fresh veggies in it, and to dip low-sodium or unsalted tortilla chips. My all time favorite flavor of hummus is the roasted garlic, obviously, because I really love savory foods.

Vegan Soy Chorizo

Trader Joe's

$2.29

One of my best friends introduced this food to me about a year ago and I cannot stop eating it! There is always soy chorizo in my fridge and I wouldn't have it any other way. This is a great way to incorporate plant-based protein into your diet. It has the texture of ground beef or ground sausage and has a little bit of a kick to it!. My favorite ways to eat soy chorizo are with veggie pasta, chili, and nachos! Pair it with some nutritional yeast (for that added B12) and you've got yourself a protein packed meal!

Brussels Sprouts

Trader Joe's

$2.49

Okay, I used to HATE brussels sprouts with a passion because they always smelled gross and the way they were typically cooked made them super mushy. However, I found the most perfect way to make crispy and delicious brussels sprouts: I usually roast them in the oven at 400 degrees for about 15-20 minutes with garlic and black pepper!

Frozen Broccoli Florets

Trader Joe's

$1.69

Broccoli is also a staple in my diet because it just tastes good and is high in fiber and has calcium! My favorite ways to eat broccoli are in pasta dishes or roasted with garlic and black pepper!

Bell Peppers, Melange A Trois

Trader Joe's

$1.99

I really love these frozen peppers because they're already prepped and super easy to throw into a recipe! Although nothing beats fresh bell peppers, frozen peppers are a time saver! I really like to include peppers in my pasta and eggs.

Baby Spinach

Trader Joe's

$1.99

I always have spinach in my fridge because it is one of my favorite vegetables! Spinach is a great source of vitamins and minerals such as calcium and vitamin C!. I like to put spinach in pretty much all of my dishes!

Zucchini

Trader Joe's

$1.99

Zucchini is my other favorite vegetables because you can add to them to anything! You make noodles our of zucchini, roast, sauté, and grill them! My favorite way to eat zucchini is to add it to sauté it and add it to pasta or roast them with garlic!

12 Dozen Eggs

Kroger

$0.99

I always have to have eggs in my fridge because they are a huge staple in my diet! I eat eggs almost every single day because they taste amazing and have so many benefits! Eggs are a good source of protein and B vitamins!

8 O'Clock Coffee Original

Kroger

Around $5.00

This is my favorite coffee mainly because my dad drinks it so this is what I started drinking! The original bled has a slight fruity flavor and is bold but not too bold!

Dannon Light and Fit Greek Yogurt

Kroger

$3.79 for a pack of four

Although Siggi's is my favorite yogurt, it can get a little expensive so my next favorite yogurt is the Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt! This yogurt is low in sugar and high in protein and only 80 calories! It is a perfect pre- or post-workout snack as well as an anytime snack! My favorite way to eat this yogurt is mixed with some peanut butter!

Whole Wheat Bagels

Kroger

$1.99

I LOVE bagels with all my heart! Especially with peanut butter or as an egg sandwich with hummus! Whole wheat bagels or/or bread are a great way to incorporate fiber into your diet!
